So, for the last 6 months or so (actually, since before the last album ‘A Model of Modern Influence‘ was released) I’ve been spending as much time as I can manage (or afford) writing new music that will hopefully become my 3rd full-length release, and it will be called Maybe It’s Strange.
As of today I’ve been working on the final demo (I’ve written and recorded 30 in total) and after that’s done, I’m going to cut it down to around 10-12 songs that I think work the best. From there, I need to spend a lot of time trying to make them sound better, re-record guitar parts, vocals, and probably restructure some of the songs. Thinking back to the previous couple of albums, this period can be both exciting and maddening, as you can see the end somewhere in the distance, but it’s never clear exactly what you have to do to get there, and what to do to get the best results possible.
This album has felt tougher than perhaps the previous releases, as my money and energy has been mostly depleted, and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I want to do, musically; and I’m still not entirely sure, but I do think the songs have potential.
Hopefully I can stay motivated and have the album produced and haphazardly mixed and mastered by myself somewhere with the first half of 2016. Hopefully. Hopefully.
ALSO, the album artwork here is a work in progress, unless I decide that it works well enough, and then, you know, it would be the final artwork.
All the best,
